Okay, so I have been in Austin for almost three years now and I'm really just now starting to feel like a local. That being said, though, I have still yet to visit a number of the best known local spots. One of the biggest Austin staples I recently visited: the Greenbelt. My best friend and I had planned a day at Barton Springs, but when we arrived and there was $5 charge to park we quickly changed our mind. We decided on the Greenbelt, and we were so happy with our choice. The entrance is right off a main highway, and with just a little walk I felt completely secluded from city-life. This is one of my favorite things about Austin: there is a balance between a big city feel and suburban elements. If you live in austin and haven't been- you need to go this weekend!
After a delicious dinner with my friend at Elizabeth Street Cafe, we decided we wanted to find another amazing place. Oh and we sure did! We found a wine bar called Winebelly. The decor was simple and easy, and it was the kind of place you could relax whether with friends or on a date. They have a number of wine based cocktails and an extensive wine list. I absolutely loved it there- especially the outdoor area since the whether is finally starting to get nicer! Definitely a must for Austinites who like wine...
My first feature in my Austin Adventure series is the delicious and adorable, Elizabeth Street Cafe. This charming French Vietnamese cuisine features the most well thought out interior and outrageously tasty food and drinks. Every little detail in this restaurant made my smile- I was just dying! It is so refreshing to go to a restaurant where every little detail is given attention rather than skimmed over. I went for dinner on the most beautiful spring day, and was in complete heaven! I cannot wait to go back and try their brunch.... Photos of the outside found here (if you click on the photo will take you to site!) and other photos taken by me!
I have lived in Austin, Texas for almost three years now, and honestly I have spent most of my time getting to know the inside of the library on campus. I have finally started to realize that I NEED to make a bigger effort to spend time in the amazing city I live in. My favorite part of living in London was that there were so many different things to do and places to go. I love searching around, and finding a new place that almost feels like my own secret. So, to get myself out and about more in Austin I am starting an Austin Adventures series! If anyone has suggestions of places to try let me know!
