One of my biggest New Years Resolutions this year was to read more- no matter what I was reading to read more books for myself. This has turned more into reading two pages before falling asleep every night, but hey that's better than nothing? I have been doing okay on this resolution, but definitely need to do better, and I want to revamp with some new books! Let me know if you have any other recommendations.
The Fault In Our Stars by John Green. With this book having been adapted into a movie that is set to come out in June, I really want to read this book before I see the movie. It is a love story about a young couple who meet in a cancer support group, and tells the story of Hazel and Augustus. I've heard that this is an enchanting read that you cannot put down.
Lessons of a Lipstick Queen by Poppy King. A perfect blend between a pleasure read and an important business read. This book tells the story of Poppy and how she made it to be so successful. Not only does she talk about her experience but she also offers advice. I love reads like this! I love seeing how people do things differently, and to learn from what they have done.
Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me? by Mindy Kaling. Honestly, I really just want to read this because I think Mindy Kaling is hilarious, and after a long day of classes and reading textbooks I really need to switch gears.
Divergent by Veronica Roth. Another gear switcher, but I have heard that even though this series is a "teen series" that you cannot put these books down. The Divergent series tells the stories of Beatrice and her experience of living in a dystopian world. The society is built off the fact that each citizen is meant to cultivate a particular virtue, which they are shown on appointment day when they . When Beatrice has inconclusive results, she has a very different choice to make. Again another book that has been adopted to the big screen that I need to read before it comes out!
